If you are suffering from an eye problem that is hindering you from doing your daily tasks efficiently, you might want to consider wearing either eyeglasses or contact lenses to address the issue. Vision problems usually cause dizziness and extreme headache, which you surely don?t want to go through every day. Traditionally, people with weak vision wear eyeglasses as it is cheaper and widely available in the market. However, it is easily lost and misplaced. Also, it hides the beauty of the eyes, so people do actually look older than their age when wearing glasses. However, the case isn?t hopeless, is it? With contact lenses, individuals who are not so fond of wearing specs can choose to wear colored contacts for dark eyes, or just natural color if they don?t want fancy ones. ?
Most colored contacts are replaceable after every 3 months, so you could wear gray for one quarter and then hazel after that, or whatever color you would choose. One great advantage of contact lenses over specs is that it comes in various colors, so that people can still wear their natural eye color with the right prescription needed. In most cases, buying contacts is even a lot cheaper than getting prescription glasses and people don?t have to know if someone has eye issues unless the contacts are way too absurd for a person?s natural eye color. The only disadvantage of wearing contacts is the risk of getting eye infection due to improper care for the eye and the lenses.

Recent studies have confirmed that older drivers are more inclined than any other drivers to be in accidents.
Several states are now requiring driving tests for seniors or for people who have been in three or more collisions in one year, required. This is because older drivers are more inclined to either being injured or killed. Statistics show, the elderly are more regularly in perilous or fatal wrecks than any other ages. The best way to efficiently be certain that the unsafe drivers are off the roads is for them to be mandated to take a test to see who should and who shouldn?t be driving. Some see this as discrimination, while others see it as a comfort and a way to know for sure that their loved one will be safe while on the road. Most people, especially those with elderly family members, are already cognizant of the possible hazards.
A terrific solution for keeping your aging parent or loved one safe is to use a home care agency that furnishes transportation. Home care agencies not only supply transportation but moreover they provide the option for men and women to keep their independence. This also avoids seclusion and assists them to continue to get around to their own doctor appointments as well as run their own errands.
There are quite a few unique ways to find out how to get help in your community. Make contact with your local Area Agency on Aging. If they do not offer transportation, they can help you learn more about your options in order to find ?a home care agency who does. There are also door-to-door services in most areas and driver volunteers. The door-to-door service do require you to call and give them notice on what your plans are but this may offer the most overall flexibility.
However, if you are interested in paying a fee for each designated stop you should ask about a fixed route. The fees charged are discounted at senior citizen rates and in some cases are actually free. The option available with driver volunteers usually is a great option for people who need to be taken to a specific place at certain times such as doctor appointments or senior centers. For more information you can call the National Transit Hotline Toll Free at 1-800-527-8279, they can provide you with a list of local home care agencies that can help you find the right alternative to fit your specific needs.

More and more people are choosing to move to a retirement community. The very first thing you need to take into consideration is where you want your retirement community to be located. You could choose from an urban environment or a country setting but understanding what your particular needs are ? now and in the future plays a big part in which retirement community you should move to.
Many people like to be close to where they live now, just a little further out. But some like to move to the city where there are more sights and accessibility.
If you have children, you might also want to consider a location that is near to them so you can more easily spend time with them and with your grandchildren. In addition, if you have special medical needs, you might want to choose a community that is near to certain medical facilities. Or, if you are interested in pursuing educational interests that you never had the time for before retirement, a college community might be the best location for you.
Know Your Needs and Desires
Not all retirement communities are the same, so you need to have a clear idea of what you need and what you want in a retirement community. First, some retirement communities are set up like apartments, while others utilize manufactured homes, RVs, townhomes and single family homes. Therefore, you will first need to make a decision regarding which of these building styles is most desirable to you. If you are looking for a little more privacy and ease of access, a retirement community made of manufactured homes or single family homes may be the best option for you.
Be sure to consider your hobbies as well. In that way, you can select a retirement community that will make it easier for you to pursue those hobbies. For example, if you enjoy golfing, you might want to find a retirement community that is on a golf course. If you like fishing, then a community near the lake is ideal. If you want to be able to have most of your needs met within the retirement community, you might want to seek out a resort-type community. On the other hand, if you might occasionally need some assistance with your basic living needs, you might want to consider an active adult community that also offers basic assisted living services.
Once you have your choices narrowed down, contact the retirement communities you are considering and ask for more information. They will likely send you a packet filled with information that you can browse through.
In many cases, the retirement community will also offer a visitor?s program or a vacation getaway program that will allow you to take a tour of the property or stay overnight. This will help you get a better idea of whether or not the community is right for you.
And remember, before selecting any retirement community try getting a second opinion from a relative or friend. Often, we fall in love with what we want, blocking out any negative aspects. Another opinion offers you advice that you may never have thought of.

The New Jersey's casino gambling industry has been searching for several years for a spark that could reignite the Atlantic City gaming industry to Monday for they may have received that spark when Revel was granted a gaming license in the state for the revel has been in the works for years and they even before the 2008 economic recession, Revel was considered a key to reviving an industry that had lost its luster casino expansion taking place all across the US since the recession to even more imperative that Atlantic City casinos find a way to hold off the competition.
A Revel is considered by many to be that answer in the facility is a state-of-the-art casino, equipped with entertainment space, restaurants and retail outlets of a revel will also feature 10 pools, a spa, a theatre, and a large gaming floor to level has no rival in Atlantic City or anywhere else on the East Coast in the Borgata was the last casino to open in Atlantic City, and at the time, regulators felt that the Borgata and Revel together could help bring customers back to AC is the recession hit, Revel was one of the short-term casualties, with developers halting the project of the financial market stabilized and the project was restarted, and the facility is now set to open on April 2nd.

Let?s be honest, ?it? is not an easy subject to talk about. Most of us are uncomfortable talking about sex. But take a moment and get past the blushing, because this conversation is important.
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and this April, communities across the country are proclaiming ?It?s time? to talk about it!? This year?s campaign encourages individuals and communities to bring healthy sexuality into the conversation on how we connect with and respect one another in order to prevent sexual violence.
By talking about ?it? we are making the connection that promoting healthy behaviors encourages relationships that are consensual, respectful and informed. That is what healthy sexuality is about. Healthy sexuality is having the knowledge and power to express sexuality in ways that enrich our lives. Healthy sexuality is free from coercion and violence.
It is important to understand that sexuality is much more than sex. Healthy sexuality is emotional, social, cultural and physical. It is our values, attitudes, feelings, interactions and behaviors. It changes with time and experience.
Individuals need accurate information about relationships, sexuality and positive behaviors to ensure the opportunity to make healthy sexual choices. These choices impact our lives, loved ones, communities and society.
All of us have a role in building safe, healthy relationships and communities. When we start the conversation about healthy sexuality, we raise awareness. Prevent sexual violence by talking about ?it.?
It?s time ? to talk about it!

Issue: There are three sets of running mates up for next year?s Students? Association president and vice president.
The election days are April 3 and 4, and we at The Collegian think there is one right choice: Jameson Berreth and Wyatt DeJong.
For one, they?ve got the experience.
Berreth has served on SA for two years now, this past year as the State and Local Chair. DeJong spent a year as the central region vice president for National Future Farmers of America, from October 2010 to October 2011.
When we were told these two students were teaming up to represent and lead our student body, we couldn?t have been happier. Not only are they the best choice on this ballot; they would be viable candidates on any ballot. And we don?t throw out praises carelessly.
This has nothing to do with the fact that they share a part of their names with members of the Editorial Board. For real. There is actually no relation.
The choice is simply obvious. In a conversation with either Berreth or DeJong, it takes only minutes to know they are natural leaders. They are friendly, charismatic and always genuinely interested.
But personable personalities do not equate to good leaders. We are confident that if elected, this pair will actually accomplish realistic tasks. We base this upon their history. Last fall, Berreth was a key student in getting the Legislature to discuss the Good Samaritan Alcohol Policy ? even if it was voted down.
The two other pairs are Jared Ellefson and Libby Trammell, and Brady Duxbury and Josh Johnson.
Both pairs have admirable qualities, but they just don?t match up to Berreth and DeJong. They don?t have the amount of leadership experience, and their reach on campus is much smaller.
We are quite aware many students may not know what the Students? Association is. (Read the inside section to find out.) But if you are on campus at all next week, you won?t miss the posters, flyers, sidewalk chalk and free candy bombarding you.
Don?t be that person whose vote is won by a Tootsie Pop. Vote for the qualified candidates: Berreth and DeJong.
Stance: Vote for Jameson Berreth and Wyatt DeJong.

MIAMI-?WWE Superstars and Divas made a very special stop on The Road to WrestleMania Wednesday afternoon, visiting Holtz Children?s Hospital in Miami to brighten the day of the kids. (PHOTOS?| WATCH)
The WWE contingent, which included Rey Mysterio, R-Truth, Kofi Kingston, The Great Khali, Christian, The Bella Twins, Maxine and AJ, spent a few hours with the children. ?There?s a lot of our fans that can?t make it out to WrestleMania, so we bring it to them,? R-Truth said.
The Superstars may not have been prepared for intense interviews, but some of the kids came armed with microphones and their best questions. ?They had a whole list made, they knew everybody and had questions for everybody,? Christian explained. ?They were well-prepared.?
Mysterio, donning a dazzling white and red mask, was touched at the hospital?s treatment of Spanish speaking-familes. ?I met families from Guatemala and Costa Rica. There are a lot of Hispanic speaking people here being taken care of. It?s good to see that the hospital opens their heart for anyone,? he said.
One child in particular touched Mysterio?s heart. ?He was very quiet, but very alert. You could tell right away that he was very happy to see me, despite not much expression on his face,? he explained. ?I remembered that I had a mask in my back pack. I signed and gave it to him with a toy Rumbler. As I was signing the mask, you could see that he was very happy, despite not being able to say much. It was really cool.?
Many of the girl patients at the hospital took to the Divas. One in particular made an impression on AJ. ?I fell in love with Angela, who was the cutest little girl who had gorgeous eyelashes,? she said. Another patient named Tatiana, was enamored by The Bellas, asking where they got their clothes.
The kids at Holtz also got a huge surprise, as Edge, who will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on Saturday, joined his former colleagues during the visit. ?I came straight from the airport and hopefully put some smiles on faces,? he said.
For Edge, who grew up idolizing WWE Superstars, visits like this are one of the ways he can give back to the WWE Universe. ?WWE Superstars are like superheroes, comic book characters come to life,? he said. ?If [Superstars] visited me, my head would have exploded.?
In addition to the visit putting smiles on the faces of the children, WWE has designated the hospital as the recipient of all proceeds from Thursday?s WrestleMania Premiere Party, as well as the WrestleMania Art Auction, taking place on eBay now.
Thursday?s visit was one of WWE?s many charitable efforts in the Miami area during WrestleMania Week. Superstars and Divas will be visiting hospitals and meeting with children through the Make A Wish Foundation, among other events.
The Holtz Children?s Hospital, located at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center is one of the largest in the southeastern United States and is among the top in the country, according toU.S News and World Report. For more information, follow the hospital on Twitter?and Facebook.

Many billions of rocky planets in the habitable zones around red dwarfs in the Milky WayPublic release date: 28-Mar-2012 [ | E-mail | Share ]

This first direct estimate of the number of light planets around red dwarf stars has just been announced by an international team using observations with the HARPS spectrograph on the 3.6-metre telescope at ESO's La Silla Observatory in Chile [1]. A recent announcement (eso1204 - http://www.eso.org/public/news/eso1204/), showing that planets are ubiquitous in our galaxy used a different method that was not sensitive to this important class of exoplanets.
The HARPS team has been searching for exoplanets orbiting the most common kind of star in the Milky Way red dwarf stars (also known as M dwarfs [2]). These stars are faint and cool compared to the Sun, but very common and long-lived, and therefore account for 80% of all the stars in the Milky Way.
"Our new observations with HARPS mean that about 40% of all red dwarf stars have a super-Earth orbiting in the habitable zone where liquid water can exist on the surface of the planet," says Xavier Bonfils (IPAG, Observatoire des Sciences de l'Univers de Grenoble, France), the leader of the team. "Because red dwarfs are so common there are about 160 billion of them in the Milky Way this leads us to the astonishing result that there are tens of billions of these planets in our galaxy alone."
The HARPS team surveyed a carefully chosen sample of 102 red dwarf stars in the southern skies over a six-year period. A total of nine super-Earths (planets with masses between one and ten times that of Earth) were found, including two inside the habitable zones of Gliese 581 (eso0915 - http://www.eso.org/public/news/eso0915/) and Gliese 667 C respectively. The astronomers could estimate how heavy the planets were and how far from their stars they orbited.
By combining all the data, including observations of stars that did not have planets, and looking at the fraction of existing planets that could be discovered, the team has been able to work out how common different sorts of planets are around red dwarfs. They find that the frequency of occurrence of super-Earths [3] in the habitable zone is 41% with a range from 28% to 95%.
On the other hand, more massive planets, similar to Jupiter and Saturn in our Solar System, are found to be rare around red dwarfs. Less than 12% of red dwarfs are expected to have giant planets (with masses between 100 and 1000 times that of the Earth).
As there are many red dwarf stars close to the Sun the new estimate means that there are probably about one hundred super-Earth planets in the habitable zones around stars in the neighbourhood of the Sun at distances less than about 30 light-years [4].
"The habitable zone around a red dwarf, where the temperature is suitable for liquid water to exist on the surface, is much closer to the star than the Earth is to the Sun," says Stephane Udry (Geneva Observatory and member of the team). "But red dwarfs are known to be subject to stellar eruptions or flares, which may bathe the planet in X-rays or ultraviolet radiation, and which may make life there less likely."
One of the planets discovered in the HARPS survey of red dwarfs is Gliese 667 Cc [5]. This is the second planet in this triple star system (see eso0939 - http://www.eso.org/public/news/eso0939/ - for the first) and seems to be situated close to the centre of the habitable zone. Although this planet is more than four times heavier than the Earth it is the closest twin to Earth found so far and almost certainly has the right conditions for the existence of liquid water on its surface. This is the second super-Earth planet inside the habitable zone of a red dwarf discovered during this HARPS survey, after Gliese 581d was announced in 2007 and confirmed in 2009.
"Now that we know that there are many super-Earths around nearby red dwarfs we need to identify more of them using both HARPS and future instruments. Some of these planets are expected to pass in front of their parent star as they orbit this will open up the exciting possibility of studying the planet's atmosphere and searching for signs of life," concludes Xavier Delfosse, another member of the team (eso1210 - http://www.eso.org/public/news/eso1210/).

Notes
[1] HARPS measures the radial velocity of a star with extraordinary precision. A planet in orbit around a star causes the star to regularly move towards and away from a distant observer on Earth. Due to the Doppler effect, this radial velocity change induces a shift of the star's spectrum towards longer wavelengths as it moves away (called a redshift) and a blueshift (towards shorter wavelengths) as it approaches. This tiny shift of the star's spectrum can be measured with a high-precision spectrograph such as HARPS and used to infer the presence of a planet.
[2] These stars are called M dwarfs because they have the spectral class M. This is the coolest of the seven classes in the simplest scheme for classifying stars accordingly to decreasing temperature and the appearance of their spectra.
[3] Planets with a mass between one and ten times that of the Earth are called super-Earths. There are no such planets in our Solar System, but they appear to be very common around other stars. Discoveries of such planets in the habitable zones around their stars are very exciting because if the planet were rocky and had water, like Earth they could potentially be an abode of life.
[4] The astronomers used ten parsecs as their definition of "close". This corresponds to about 32.6 light-years.
[5] The name means that the planet is the second discovered (c) orbiting the third component (C) of the triple star system called Gliese 667. The bright stellar companions Gliese 667 A and B would be prominent in the skies of Gliese 667 Cc. The discovery of Gliese 667 Cc was independently announced by Guillem Anglada-Escude and colleagues in February 2012, roughly two months after the electronic preprint of the Bonfils et al. paper went online. This confirmation of the planets Gliese 667 Cb and Cc by Anglada-Escude and collaborators was largely based on HARPS observations and data processing of the European team that were made publicly available through the ESO archive.

The year 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the European Southern Observatory (ESO). ESO is the foremost intergovernmental astronomy organisation in Europe and the world's most productive astronomical observatory. It is supported by 15 countries: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. ESO carries out an ambitious programme focused on the design, construction and operation of powerful ground-based observing facilities enabling astronomers to make important scientific discoveries. ESO also plays a leading role in promoting and organising cooperation in astronomical research. ESO operates three unique world-class observing sites in Chile: La Silla, Paranal and Chajnantor. At Paranal, ESO operates the Very Large Telescope, the world's most advanced visible-light astronomical observatory and two survey telescopes. VISTA works in the infrared and is the world's largest survey telescope and the VLT Survey Telescope is the largest telescope designed to exclusively survey the skies in visible light. ESO is the European partner of a revolutionary astronomical telescope ALMA, the largest astronomical project in existence. ESO is currently planning a 40-metre-class European Extremely Large optical/near-infrared Telescope, the E-ELT, which will become "the world's biggest eye on the sky".

Many people like to listen to music while they work, including surgeons. But a new study shows that, when classical music is played during minor surgery, patients recover sooner. More »

One game is a grudge match between teams that know each other all too well. The other is a rare rematch between virtual strangers.
The Final Four is set. In one game Saturday, Kentucky will play Louisville in an intrastate rivalry that puts Cardinals coach Rick Pitino against the school he once coached, then later alienated by returning to the Bluegrass to lead its archrival.
In the other semifinal, it will be Ohio State and Kansas, meeting for only the ninth time in their history but for the second time this season. The Jayhawks won the first game 78-67 in Lawrence, Kan., back on Dec. 10. Ohio State's Jared Sullinger sat out of that game with back spasms. It was the first time the teams had met since 1999-2000.
The winners will play for the national title April 2. Kentucky already has seven national titles but none since 1998, the year after Pitino left. Kansas has three championships, Louisville has two and Ohio State, better known as a football power, won its lone title in 1960 and is making its third trip to the Final Four since 1999.
Absent from this year's ultimate hoops weekend, taking place at the Superdome in New Orleans, are the longshots and little guys who have made March Madness so special over the years. Although there are no Butlers, VCUs or George Masons, there are plenty of good stories to tell. That list starts with Pitino vs. his old school.
It was Pitino who restored Kentucky to its former greatness when he arrived there in 1989 and the Wildcat program was coming off the sting of NCAA violations. Pitino took the program to three Final Fours and won one championship, but left in 1997 to take a second shot at the NBA, where he had previously coached the New York Knicks.
He fared far worse in four seasons with the Boston Celtics, and when the call back to the college game came, it came from Louisville, located only 70 miles up the road from Lexington and very much in the crosshairs of Kentucky fans. It has been 11 years since his dramatic return, and most of the shock has worn off from what was once deemed an unforgivable betrayal. But there's nothing like a Final Four meeting to stir up some old memories.
"It is in our state. They're a great program. We're in two different leagues," Kentucky coach John Calipari said after the Wildcats beat Baylor 82-70 in the South Regional to advance to the Final Four for the second straight year. "The city of Louisville drives our state. The University of Louisville drives that city. So it's a very important thing for our state, and it's important that that school does well."
Maybe just not next Saturday.
The teams play every season, and most recently, they were ranked Nos. 3 and 4 in The Associated Press poll when they met on New Year's Eve. Kentucky won at home 69-62. Now, it's top-seeded Kentucky against Louisville, a No. 4 and the worst-seeded team in the Final Four.
"We think they're excellent. We think they're great. I coached there. It's great. Great tradition," Pitino said Saturday, after Louisville rallied for a 72-68 win over Florida that put the Cardinals in the Final Four for the second time since the coach arrived. "But we want to be Louisville. We have a different mission. They have a different mission. But we both want to get to a Final Four and win a championship."
Led by a group of freshmen who may or may not return for a second year, Kentucky was established as an early 8.5-point favorite in the game. The Wildcats endured a brief scare when freshman Anthony Davis, their leading scorer, went down hard in the second half against Baylor with an injured knee. But it was only a knee-to-knee collision with a Baylor player and the injury isn't expected to be serious.
"The guys told me it was knee to knee," Calipari said of the early report from the trainers. "I said, 'Get up, mama's boy,' and he was fine."
Pitino's team does not have as many NBA-ready stars as Calipari's, but they are Final Four material. A series of injuries and starts and stops led to a 10-8 Big East regular season that impressed no one. But the coach kept believing and coaxing. The Cardinals won the Big East tournament and are two wins away from winning the NCAAs, too.
"I really didn't have any lofty expectations, because we had so many injuries," Pitino said. "We were just trying to survive during the season. We just wanted to make the tournament and start fresh."
In the other semifinal, Sullinger got what he wanted when he decided to return to Ohio State for his sophomore year ? a trip to the Final Four. The Buckeyes are early 2.5-point picks over Kansas in the matchup of No. 2 seeds.
They finished in a three-way tie for first in the Big Ten, widely viewed as the toughest conference in basketball this year, but settled for a No. 2 seed in the NCAAs after losing the conference tournament final to Michigan State. It wasn't the first or last time critics underestimated Thad Matta's team this season.
"People were asking, are we mentally tough enough, are we physically tough enough, can we do this, can we do that?" Sullinger said. "I relayed those questions back to the team. We did some soul searching, and now we've taken this to a whole other level."
Sullinger scored 19 points Saturday in Ohio State's 77-70 win over Syracuse to make the Final Four.
Tyshawn Taylor scored 22 points Sunday in an 80-67 win over North Carolina to lock in the matchup against the Buckeyes. The Jayhawks reached the Final Four for the first time since 2008, when they won it all after rallying from nine points late in the title game to beat Memphis (and Calipari, before he moved to Kentucky) in overtime.
Taylor finished with 13 assists in the Dec. 10 game against Ohio State despite playing with an ailing knee.
The Buckeyes, meanwhile, had to do without Sullinger. Playing their first road game of the season, they lost by 11 to drop to 8-1.
Seems like quite a long time ago.
"We caught a break the first time when Jared didn't play, and we were kind of finding ourselves," Kansas coach Bill Self said. "We knew they were a team that could make a run and win a national championship. They have so many pieces that are so good. It starts with Jared."
